Mudtails Farm LLC
Welcome to Mudtails Farm LLC created for our daughter Amber, who is active in FFA at her highschool, she is also the President. Amber wanted a place to raise meat livestock, for showing at fairs in Snohomish County. This farm has 3 types of livestock, Swine for pork, Cornish Cross for Meat chickens and a very mixed flock for Laying hens.
Livestock on the farm

Laying Hens
Mudtails Farm has a few laying hens. All hens where adopted They range in age from 4 to 8 years old. They lay multi colored eggs, brown’s, blue’s and a mossy green’s. These hens are here for retirement, all have had babies and roosters with them at original farms and we felt they deserved a break and to be spoiled. They eat organic non gmo feed from our local Dayville Hay & Grain As well as scratch and table scraps. We have added 4 chicks (Americana's) in 2025 and 15 chicks (5 Speckled Sussex , 5 Silver laced Wyandotte and 5 we will see what they sent as it was not our ordered birds. ) in 2026. We sell eggs $6.00 a dozen, and have a wait list most weeks. Our eggs range in size from Small (our new layers) to jumbo. With very vibrant yolks and a delicious flavor eggs are a staple on this farm.

Swine
On our farm right now we have 2 barrows from a I.P.P. crossed with a Gloucestershire Old Spot/Black hog. These 2 are from Blackberry and Wooster's second litter (our former show pig gilt turned Sow from 2024) Born early Sept 2025. We have been handling them since birth. These boys are full of character and spunk. The black hog is Needy Petey, and the White Spot is Cracker. These two enjoy playing in the mud, laying in the sunshine and sleeping in the hut. They were born at Chinook Farms in Snohomish. They are fed a combination of two really good feeds, one is ElenBaas 16% hog pellets from Everson Wa, and the other is from Cwik Feed 16% non gmo grower in Spangle Wa
With this mix of feed they are growing out nicely and should finish in April 2026 with a nice weight.
We sell pork shares by the Half and Whole, Non refundable deposit required to hold your share. We charge $5.00 a lbs hanging weight plus dispatch fee as we prepay that to our butcher. We have really liked working with North Fork Packing in Oso Wa. So we have chosen them to handle our slaughter services, as well as the cut and wrap. They have separate fees that are paid directly to them. At this time items like ham and belly can not be smoked with them as it is not offered, these items must be taken to another facility that provides that service, or smoke your own product. We can recommend places for you to look into locally.
Buying local farm fresh pork helps a small farm family stay afloat. To know that the animals raised here at Mudtails Farm have been taken care of, loved on, played with daily, and provided plenty of yummy nutritious feed, does matter to us. To be able to have provided at least 16 families with our pork is an honor. We are so thankful for those who have trusted us.

Cornish Cross Meat birds
This year we took our chances and pre ordered some Cornish Cross birds to raise and put in the freezer. We ordered 10, and have 9 growing great. We like this bird as it grows to a perfect weight in 8 short weeks. Providing us with plenty of home grown farm fresh Chicken throughout the year. This will be our 4th round, with a total of 40 birds raised since we started the farm, culled, sold and eaten.
Please reach out if you are interested in purchasing a meat bird from us they are $20.00 each whole bird is (culled and procced here at the farm) dressed and sealed in a freezer bag then placed in our deep freezers. These birds can range in weights so we wont know until they are bagged up but our average birds in the past have been 7 to 11 pounders.

What is FFA?
FFA is the premier youth organization preparing members for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture.
FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education. What do the letters FFA stand for?
The official name of the organization is the National FFA Organization.
The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more. For this reason, the name of the organization was updated in 1988 after a vote of national convention delegates to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture.
Today, the National FFA Organization remains committed to the individual student, providing a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
FFA continues to help the next generation rise up to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways. So today, we are still the Future Farmers of America. But, we are the Future Biologists, Future Chemists, Future Veterinarians, Future Engineers and Future Entrepreneurs of America, too
